Who: Kipchoge Spencer of the Ginger Ninjas

What: Xtracycle Ride, concert and party (all bikes and passengers welcome)

When: Friday November 10th, 2006 at 6 PM Depart from Aaron's Bicycle Repair and ride to Westlake Plaza to meet more riders. From there we will ride 'round (like a record, baby) for an hour or two and end up at the Bat Cave.
Heavy rain plan is to meet at the Bat Cave around 7 PM.

Where: If you cannot make the ride then meet at Dead Baby Bikes' Bat Cave SW corner of First and Marion under the east end of the pedestrian overpass (same block as the Owl and Thistle) around 9 PM

Info: Aaron's Bicycle Repair (206) 938-9795

Kipchoge is on the right (don't call him Kip)

Also I have created a flyer, please help spread the word. http://www.rideyourbike.com/xtracycleride6.doc

You will need this font:http://www.deadbabybikes.org/fonts/Frankenstein-Regular.ttf

Anyone have any ideas on places Kipchoge can play?

2 suggestions so far are Skylark and Pacific Rim Brewing (both in West Seattle)

I would prefer someplace south of the ship canal as Kipchoge will be staying at my place.

Suggestions please!

I maintain this is the best option, which is why I suggested it. They have a stage. I'd just checked their event listings to see what they have that night and the answer is nothing planned. If you wanted to be safe, you could call them and warn them of our intent to arrive and produce music.

Kipchoge called them and told me that Pacific Rim is done doing outdoor music for the season. Maybe you cold get them to make an exeption?
Kipchoge asked about the Comet Tavern. They have an opening from 7 to 9 PM. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Maybe have a ride afterwards instead? Anyother suggestions for music venues? I think a 9 PM-ish set time is best. My idea was to leave the ABR around 5 PM and ride around and end up at the show. Kipchoge would probably need to be there at least a half hour early to set up. So tell me some places!

It looks like the party/concert is going to be at the Bat Cave - DBB club house. More details to follow, but we may have the band Squish play as well. For sure I will buy a keg. Lee, gonna need to rent your tap handle box kit. For the ride, I am thinking start at my shop around 6 PM then head down town to meet more Xtracycles (and normal bikes) then ride around CM/.83 style for an hour or so, then head to the Bat Cave for the party.

Would someone volunteer to design a flyer to hand out?

On it. I need all band names, times, street addresses and a silly fact. In addition a shoestring, three gum wrappers and a half-smoked butt from an ashtray.

One of the members of Skwish is going to be out of town.

Anyone know of another band that would be willing to party/play for fun/free?

Check the top of this thread for updates.

Here you go.

Mailed to you in a fit for printing and cutting into flyers format as well.

With only one spelling error.

Leisurely... Leisurely.

There is some concern that too many people will show up at the Bat Cave. I was told we would need some bouncers for the door. Only bike people as sometimes riff-raff wants to come in.

Yes.

I figure we will just block the doorway and intimidate anyone on a fixed gear.

Hey Aaron...

On your ride, stop by swedish on first hill/ broadway and come in and say hi to Charly, I should be in surgery about then...

If they cut my finger off I hope I can keep it.

Sorry man, Hills + Rain = no fun.

If it raining like it is right now, tonight, then the plan for the ride is to just meet up at the Bat Cave around 7 or 8 PM.

On the other hand if it is just sprinkling, then we may ride farther. Either way we will be at the Bat Cave by 9 PM at the latest.

I hope to see you all there.

Remember, I have a keg I don't want to carry home full.

No need to Cellophane someone. Just meet up at WLC around 7 PM We shouldn't be any later getting there than 8 PM AT THE LATEST! So hand out around WLC between 7 and 8 PM

I must admit, not a very attractive option. Remind me to put you down for a lump of coal for Yule Aaron.

What?! We do that every Thursday for cripes sake. 'sides, there is a Starbucks there where you could sit inside and wait. Sorry about the lateness. Everyone has been pretty non-committal from the beginning about this ride. Hell, it is 10 to 6 PM, I am ready and Kipchoge is not even here yet! A bunch of people are sick and it is raining and cold, now, wait, it is not raining now!

This is Seattle folks. Rain, rain, rain

Hope to see you there.

The rain is letting up!

Kipchoge is running late because of traffic, should be here by 6:30PM plan on meet up at Westlake around 8 PM. Ride by the Bat Cave if you don't see anyone at WLC.
