My beloved bike has survived a lot a dark, dark experiences.Getting stolen today from in front of St. Mark's Cathedral/Gage is the latest of its growing pains.

Please keep an eye out:
57cm white Rainier themed Raleigh fixed gear
Easton fork
white saddle
red bull horn handle bars
red front wheel, black rear
front brake
Scabies covered leper with early diagnosis of testicular cancer and a bad case of karma blues is probably riding it.

Thanks Gretchen.

I didn't get it at first either - but I think the jist there is that they just posted the first google pictures of the same bike so they could sell it.

Those pics were taken in 2010 by a PDX bro.

I would start combing pawn shops, CL is too easy for crooks to get busted.

called all of the pawn shops and it sounds like they all follow the rules of holding the bikes for 40 days and checking to see if they are legit.... a felt the same at Derrick concerning the HighLife/Rainier mix up, but once looking into it, it seems pretty fishy that they posted "CASH ONLY. FIRST COME, WILL GET THE BIKE and MAKE ME AN OFFER AND I WILL SELL THE BIKE.
twice yesterday..and once today....fingers crossed!!

You got it, tehschkott. Those pictures were the first to come up on a google search and all related to the bikehugger page.

It also looks like he's anxious to get rid of it. 4 posts since yesterday: http://seattle.craigslist.org/search/?areaID=2&subAreaID=&query=raleigh+sscx&catAbb=sss

Good luck.

Dude, go meet him with a cop and bust his ass, this is some blatantly obvious evidence that fixiewrek (not sure who you are) pointed out!

You know, one thing someone might try (if they haven't already) is getting in contact with said PDX guy, and seeing if he's selling / he has sold the bike, whatever.

has gretchen chimed in? that does not look like her bike. i don't think someone looking to flip it that quick would change the handlebars, tape, brake levers, remove the fender, and change the seat. i think it's a different but similar bike

true story: So I work in Tukwila now (again?) and regularly ride the sidewalk to where I can pick up the bike trail north.

Tonight, I rolled by the Chipotle and saw the same model bike as yours on the roof of a baby-makin' minivan in the lot. I rolled past and circled back through the parking lot to investigate further. Betwix the parked cars I slotted myself and was looking pretty hard for any stickers I could recognize, etc, knowing that it probably wasn't your bike as I could tell the bartape was neither new or the correct color. Still, I'll get in a fight in a parking lot with a stranger for your bike, hopefully the feeling is mutual.

Turns out the owner was still in the van. He races for the Raleigh CX team and could drop into our club like he was born here. He'd heard about it but doesn't have much spare social time due to kids, work and racing. Turns out he was scoping out my blacked out crosscheck at the same time as I was eyeballing his ride as he had a friend get their Surly stolen recently as well.

We shared a laugh and a fist bump. I hope you find your bike, or that you had renter's insurance and will be getting a sick new whip soon. The end.

Scott needs a new nickname for all that legit research.

Detective Scott?
Inspector Scott?

I can't wait for the exciting conclusion of this thread. Also, Gretchen never told us how the bike was locked up. Painters carry around tools to defeat u-locks?

8 minutes with a Dremel tool and I can cut a U-lock off.

Right Christine?

Takes me about 12 mins with the real tough ones.

TehSchkott P.I. Now that he's got the .83 landing craft, next up should be a shitty red Ferrari. A a black guy with a helicopter.

Just in case the guy tries to ditch it at the dump, I asked our guy who picks up the bikeworks box there to keep an eye out for a white bike with a Rainer R. I don't think a twatnozzle would be savvy enough to drop it off for 2nd use, but you never know.

I notice this is a common occurrence with bike theft posts.

Speaking of common, how many of these bikes are there in the world?
Does Raleigh sell these as complete bikes (or just framesets?) with similar components or are all your components completely unique?

I'm not sure how easy it is to fake an origin city (i.e. Arlington, VA)

I have been going about this from the other end. Gretchen gave a pretty good description of the theif. So I have been standing outside of Harborview asking every person who enters if they are a depressed leper with testicular cancer. So far, no takers. I am surprised how angry people get when you ask such a simple question. I will keep trying though.

Scott, you appear to be making much more headway. A day later and you have a name address and phone number.

They were a pet project of the man they call Sally, sold as framesets to bikefucklers like us, the only complete ones were prizes for races and raffles.

There's probably around 200 each of the Rainier (2009) and High-Life (2010) aluminum ones plus a couple dozen painted in SSCXWC or Hodala Team livery. There's also some full carbon ones that are quite a bit rarer but none of those have beer-themed paint afaik.
