Or
Last night I frolicked in a vat of green goo |

I too found jello in my pants. Thanks for everything, especially Andre for inserting me into the goo.
Maybe I'll start riding with you on a regular basis now. |

So you guys lost your sister, but gained a Fred? I am not sure if that is an even trade.
Thanks to everyone who rode. That was outstanding. A big thanks to Joby for putting it together. A good ride is any one where you do something unexpected. Like I didn't expect to ride home covered in little green jello nodules. |

| Everything that happened all evening long just kept getting better and better. I'll never forget that special moment when it was raining glowsticks and how fucking cool it looked. It was the opposite of 300's arrows "blotting out the sun" at 2:10 in this clip: http://youtu.be/qdDdHMwhU2s |

Exactly how I imagine a swarm of radioactive bats shitting on me while I lay outside their cave on warm summer's evening, alcohol heavy on my eyelids, goo oozing all over my limp body.
Agreed. Was a very memorable and well-executed moment. |

Fucking-A. I totally blew apart the right mid-range speaker, even though it was rated for the maximum power the amp produces.
Clipping? Defective speaker? Grrr. it may be time to get a scope. |

| Best weekend ever started out with you guys. I'm still chuckling about rolling into Seward to the tune of Kung Fu Fighting and also diving onto the inflatable swan. I had a huge smile all the way through the DB Messenger Challenge. So THANKS! |

| Joby - I've got two personal O-scopes if you'd like to borrow one or both. One is a slower analog tube (see: heavy) scope, other is a faster compact digital, cheap tektronix knockoff. Let me know if you need them. |

Eric Zanimal is selling me his older analog scope! woo.
I haven't played with a scope in many many years though, perhaps you can educate me.
If I'm just looking at Audio signals, do I need anything fancy at all? Even the lamest analog scope will show me amp clipping at 20kHz, right? |

Couple things to remember when taking a signal off an amp's output:
Your input impedance on the O-scope is deliberately designed to be very high; speaker input impedance is designed to be very low. I would suggest, to have the most realistic reading, you connect a speaker to your amp and then take the O-scope measurement from the speaker connections, so that you have a loaded value to measure. Unloaded amps will often behave very differently than when they have their rated load attached.
Also, uh, I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask the dump question, but you took into account that most speakers are rated a Peak-to-peak wattage, while amplifiers are rated on RMS ouput, correct? a 100WP speaker will be DESTROYED by a 100W RMS amp. |

You know, if you ever want to part out that tube O-scope, if it's an HP or old TekTronix, the wiring is most likely all 99.9% pure silver, and the tubes themselves are likely worth about 30-40 bucks each if they are of some particular types (ECC83, ECC88, etc.). I used to get some good beer money buying the old Tektronix scopes from the UW surplus sale, pulling the tubes & testing them (when I still had a tube tester), and then selling 'em on Ebay. The wiring itself was also rather highly prized. |

My amp and my speakers came with both RMS and peak ratings. Both are in range. I think I pushed my amp to clipping, or the sub vibrations did damage, or I had a defective speaker. One step at a time. |
