This Thursday, June 14, is Flag Day. The perfect way to celebrate flag day is to strap a flag, any flag, to your bike or body, ride bikes, and have fun. Simple as that. You all know when and where. Source your flag, come ready to party, and spread the word.

If only the flag was mounted on this rad ride:

I expect Andy to roll up looking like this:

I think I've got a Jack Daniels flag somewhere in my closed. As a backup, I have a sunggie I can put on a broom.

I looked up a few flag themed cocktails (eg Old Glory, Stars and Stripes) they looked pretty sweet, literally.

Almost forgot, the official Flag Day bike ride theme song is Grand Old Flag. Learn up.

You're a Grand Old Flag
you're a high flying flag
and forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of, the land I love
the home of the free and the brave.

Every heart beats true 'neath the red white and blue
where there's never a boast or a brag.
May old aquaintence be forgot
keep your eye on that grand old flag.

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock, speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height, down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population, common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.

Let's put some miles down! It's light out late, only 10% chance of rain tomorrow, and the backside of the Mercer loop is so swoopy curvy fun.

I was unable to locate my Jack Daniels flag. I fear it is lost.

So, What * WILL * do is flag someone down, and then later on in the ride will start flagging.

Location? Since it's a nice day out, and if the low wind holds out, I say Dog & Pony!

My Friend Seth of Renegade Planners Collective is turning a useless Capitol Hill street into a park today. Good place to brown bag it, maybe grill some hot dogs. We should totally support this.

ughhhhh, you know there is a brand new, parking lot turned beautiful city park less than a block from there, right? It's literally a stone-throw away.
It's amazing and worth "occupying", ten times better than sitting on asphalt roadway, sucking fumes, pretending like you are protesting something that already exists.

Save your ughhs, squirrel!....yeah that park is the greatest, but that tiny stretch of asphalt they're renegading is a terrible waste of space as a parking lot and one-way cut through. It makes walking through there less safe and less pleasant. This one's a no-brainer. More parklets, please.
