I know there is some maybe moderately alright, average at best bike camping already planned for this weekend but for those with less time on their hands, I submit the following:

My friend Stephanie and I are riding bikes (and ferries) to go beer tasting in Poulsbo on Saturday, July 7. We're planning to hit up Slippery Pig, Valhöll, and Sound Brewing, taking the Edmonds-Kingston ferry there and the Bainbridge ferry home. Should be a fun afternoon of Olympic Mountain views, rolling hills, and beer!

Meet up at Fremont Coffee and depart promptly at 12pm, aiming to make the 1:40pm sailing from Edmonds.

Tough decision - ride bikes an camp/drink beer, or ride bikes and drink beer.

I like the sound of this plan. I'm in. May I suggest that on the way home from Poulsbo that we also stop at Hare and Hound for food and last beer since it's right by Sound Brewery and has lots of other local microbrews on tap?

May I also suggest stopping at Hood Canal Brewery as it is on your probable route near the intersection on WA-104 and WA-307 in Kingston?

Shouldn't you also stop for beer at Hood Canal Brewing in Kingston?

Yes, we will most likely pass by the Hood Canal tasting room, and one of us will probably be thirsty by the time we get there. And thanks for the pub suggestion. I'm really not familiar with the Poulsbo food "scene."

How late does this generally go? Midnight? Sunday noon?

This ride won't be too long on miles (about 40) and the stops are not widespread. The length of the ride will mostly depend on how long we stay at each stop. The tasting rooms all close at 8 or 9pm and I don't envision being in Kitsap County later than that. I'm old and I like to sleep at night but if you crazy kids want to stay out till Sunday AM, go for it.

Just realized I'm spoken for on Saturday, but this is the kind of news letter I'd subscribe to in the future.

That was fun! Nothing like filling a tasing room or four to capacity. Here's a quick guide to the breweries, should you find yourself thirsty in Poulsbo.
Hood Canal: for when you want barley wine by the pint or a nap under the industrial park's lone shade tree.
Slippery Pig: dog- and kid-friendly, on a farm at the end of a gravel road, for when you want beers with unusual additives (dandelion, nettle, etc.).
Sound: for when you want to feel like you're drinking in your parents' partially finished basement.
Valholl: if you're into cage fighting, pinup girls, and only want beers 7.6% ABV or higher.

This was a blast. Thanks and mad props to Margaret for organizing.

I left my debit card in Poulsbo, so I must have been having a good time.

Bikes + beers + friends + sunshine + bears

I have again succeeded in avoiding being all pictures. :D

Yesterday was kick-ass. 50 miles, sunshine, beer. Thank you Margret for an excellent day that I was almost late to.

Fun Times.

About 42 miles as a group (48 less 6 for the ferry) plus whatever people had to ride to get to the meet up and back home.
